The Filipino showbiz industry wasn’t lacking in talented child actors back in the 90’s. The entertainment industry was home to famous names such as Jiro Manio, Vandolph Quizon, and of course, Serena Dalrymple. They are all grown up but Filipino movie enthusiasts can never forget the talent these people brought to showbiz.
Serena Dalrymple was one of the few child actors that can hold her own despite working with the most prolific veteran actors. The legendary “King of Comedy” Dolphy would overshadow just about anyone during a scene – given his amazing presence and comedic timing. But things were different with Serena.
Her charm and undeniable acting prowess, even at such a young age, paved the way for the actress to become well-loved and famous. Who could forget her powerful performance in the iconic “Bata, Bata… Pa’no Ka Ginawa?” alongside a young Carlo Aquino and the “Star for All Seasons” Vilma Santos? We were all excited to see how she would grow as an actress once she matured but she suddenly left showbiz.
Serena chose to migrate abroad and work in the corporate scene as “a manager in media conglomerate Viacom.” But after years of not hearing from the former child star, we saw in her Instagram post that she would return to the Philippines this April!
And the first thing she might prioritize as soon as she gets back is to indulge in Jollibee’s world famous Chickenjoy! Her post featured a GIF picture of her younger self in a famous commercial for the famous fast-food chain. We honestly understand this craving because who could ever resist the gloriousness that is Filipino fried chicken?
Her caption read:
“Philippines this April!! Can’t wait!!! My first meal? Hmmmmm… Chickenjoy? [emojis] #21yearsago#chickenjoygirl“
